We will start from the places that perhaps are less familiar to those who are travelling for work or tourism but certainly deserve a visit (they are all at a short distance from the Antico Podere San Luca, and if you are staying with us you can reach them easily):

Trattoria Bertozzi, via Andrea Costa, 84/2/D, Bologna

Many people regard this trattoria as one of the best in the city, and we do too. Its cuisine is traditional, and its ambience and reception are cordial. The menu includes many typical dishes: tagliatelle, tortellini, tortelloni, cotoletta alla bolognese, stuffed zucchini and excellent desserts. The trattoria is open on Monday, Friday and Saturday for lunch and supper, and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only for supper; its closing day is Sunday.

It is about 4 km from the Antico Podere San Luca (10 minutes by car).

Enoteca Zampa, via Andrea Costa, 127/A, Bologna

At a short distance from Trattoria Bertozzi there is Enoteca da Zampa, which, however, has always been called by everybody “Zampa il vinaio”, Zampa the wine-seller. It is very popular with the people of Bologna, with its extensive selection of wines to be enjoyed with cold cuts and cheeses: the ideal place for an evening with your friends. Open from Monday to Saturday, only for supper, and closed on Sundays. It is about 4 km from the Antico Podere San Luca (10 minutes by car).

Da Vito a San Luca, via di Monte Albano 5, Bologna

If you want to enjoy an excellent pizza outside the city centre, you should go to Vito’s place, near the Santuario della Beata Vergine di San Luca: its location is perfect for a walk under the porticoes – after lunch or after supper – in the cool air of the hills close to the city. It is open all days of the week except Tuesday, from 9:00 AM onwards on Sundays and public holidays, and from 12:00 AM onwards on working days.

It is only 900 metres from the Antico Podere San Luca (3 minutes by car, or 15 on foot).

Agriturismo Granoantico, via di Casaglia 68/5, Bologna

On the hills of Bologna there are many restaurants that offer good food and a fine view. One of them is Agriturismo Granoantico. Here you can enjoy the typical Bolognese cuisine, and admire the lovely scenery of the hills. The place is open all days of the week except Monday. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it is open only for supper; on Saturday and Sunday for both lunch and supper.

It is 3 km from the Antico Podere San Luca (about 8 minutes by car, or 50 on foot).

Ristorante Ca’Shin, via Cavaioni 1, Bologna

For those who are looking for a menu that is more elaborate and in step with the seasons, we recommend Ca’Shin: traditional cuisine and vegetarian dishes that can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors. The restaurant is always open, and is 5 km from the Antico Podere San Luca (about 10 minutes by car, or little more than an hour on foot).

Trattoria Monte Donato, via Siepelunga 118, Bologna

This is another pillar of traditional cuisine, outside the centre of Bologna. Its cuisine is rustic and its view of the city is splendid. The trattoria is open all days of the week for lunch and supper, except Monday, which is its closing day. It is 11 km from the Antico Podere San Luca (about 25 minutes by car, depending on the traffic).

Are you in the old city centre? Here, too, there are restaurants where you can sample the typical products of our cuisine, ranging from elaborate dishes, such as tortellini, lasagne and cotoletta alla Bolognese, to others that are simpler but still tasty, such as taglieri, wooden chopping boards on which a selection of cold cuts and/or cheeses is presented.

In the Quadrilatero (Quadrilateral) between Via Clavature, Via Orefici and Via Pescherie Vecchie

There are many places where you can buy local products of the Bolognese tradition and taste the dishes of the Bolognese and Italian tradition, from breakfast-time to evening.

Mercato delle Erbe, via Ugo Bassi 25
The ideal place for doing your shopping and buying fresh, top-quality products – vegetables, cheese, cold cuts, fish – but also for tasting various types of food. There are fish restaurants, Banco 32, Polpette Crescentine and Altro?, right inside the covered market.

La Torinese 1888, Piazza Re Enzo I
In the past, La Torinese with its hot chocolate was the inevitable venue for a rendezvous in Bologna. Now the bar is completed, under the Voltone del Podestà, by a restaurant that offers the great classics of Bolognese cuisine.

Osteria de’ Coltelli da Biagio, via de’Coltelli 6/A

In the Santo Stefano area, near Porta Castiglione, there is the Osteria de’ Coltelli, where you can sample Bolognese and Mediterranean dishes in a pleasant ambience, away from the classic touristic itineraries of the city centre. It is open only in the evening, all days of the week except Sunday, which is its closing day.

Vâgh íñ ufézzí, via de’ Coltelli 9/C

Quite close to the Osteria de’ Coltelli, there is a little restaurant that has a very peculiar name: “Vâgh íñ ufézzí” (I’m going to the office) was what our Bolognese grandfathers used to say when they wanted to convey that were going to the tavern (and did not wish to be disturbed). There is a limited number of traditional dishes, which are changed every day. Opening hours in the winter: 8 PM to 2 AM. In the summer: 8 PM to midnight. Weekly closing day: Sunday.

Osteria la Fontana, via Fondazza 83
Again in the Santo Stefano area, near Via Dante, you can taste the dishes of the Emilian and Bolognese tradition in a place whose atmosphere is unmistakably Bolognese. It is open for lunch and supper from Monday to Saturday; on Sunday only for supper; and is closed on Sunday in the evening and on Monday.

Osteria Al 15, via Mirasole 15

Near Porta San Mamolo, there is this Osteria where you can enjoy tigelle with cold cuts and a Bolognese menu in a rustic ambience. This place has a peculiar feature: if you look at the ceiling, you will see that it is covered with old magazines! It is open on all days, only in the evening, and closed on Sunday.
